Commissions
Made for one table, one room, one person
I take a small number of commissions each year so each one gets real studio time.
What I take on
- Tableware sets — bowls, cups, serving pieces made as a family
- Single vessels for a specific place, at a specific scale
- Sculptural forms, including gold-seam and broken-and-rejoined work
- Wedding, memorial and milestone pieces
- Small runs of pendants or gifts for an event
Good to know
Timelines usually run six to twelve weeks depending on size, drying and kiln schedule. Larger sculptural work takes longer.
Hand-built work carries variation — slight differences in rim, glaze movement and colour are part of the piece, not a flaw.
Pricing depends on scale, material and firing. I quote after the first conversation, with a deposit to begin and the balance before handover.

How it works
- 01
A conversation
You describe what the piece is for — a table, a room, an occasion, a person. We talk about scale, use, and whether it wants to be functional or sculptural.
- 02
Sketch & glaze samples
I send a simple sketch, a size, and one or two fired glaze samples so you can see the real surface before anything is made.
- 03
Making & firing
Hand-building takes as long as it takes; then drying, a bisque firing, glazing and a final firing. Clay sets the pace, not the calendar.
